Memphis Riverbluff Black Nurses Association’s mission is “To unify nurses, students, and partners to address the inequalities that exist between healthy and unhealthy communities in the Memphis Metropolitan Area using programs and advocacy, while simultaneously advancing the nursing profession.”
Whatever adversely affects BLACK PEOPLE, wherever they may be, whoever they may be, affects us all.

History
In 1979, a group of black nurses concerned about the problems and health issues in Memphis Black communities met several times at a local restaurant to discuss forming a chapter of the National Black Nursing Association after becoming aware of NBNA’s philosophy and work on the behalf of black nurses and minority communities.
Two years later, Memphis Riverbluff Black Nurses Association was founded in November 1981 after being chartered by NBNA. Sandra Hamilton was the founder and first chapter president.
“The servant-leader is servant first… It begins with the natural feeling that one wants to serve, to serve first. Then conscious choice brings one to aspire to lead.” – Robert K. Greenleaf
