Black Nursing Community

A Legacy
Of Service

Black nurses have a long history of providing public health services. Memphis Riverbluff nurses are proud to continue this legacy with our community service and youth service programs. The programs focus on disease prevention, early detection, and providing resources to help the youth be successful in school.

 Community Service

Our community service program focuses on disease prevention and early detection. Vaccination programs and education on healthy eating and exercise are disease prevention strategies. Examples of early detection strategies include blood pressure monitoring for hypertension, cholesterol screening for cardiovascular risk, and mammograms for breast cancer. This program targets individuals, high-risk groups, and entire communities.

Youth Service
Our youth service program focuses on supporting the educational needs of students. Each year the chapter selects a school for our back-to-school drive. This approach ensures the most vulnerable children do not miss school because of resources such as supplies and uniforms. Members also volunteer for health-related school events.
